Govee vs. Eufy vs. Trimlight: the best permanent Christmas lights for a Florida home
There are two kinds of permanent lights: smart lights you can buy in stores, like Govee, Eufy and Asahom, and dealer-only systems like Trimlight, JellyFish and Gemstone. Here's how they differ, and why we install retail smart lights in a professional, color-matched track.

The two options
Retail smart lights vs. dealer-only systems
Retail smart lights: Govee, Eufy, Asahom
Sold online and in stores, app controlled, color-changing and usually much lower in product cost. Many models work with popular smart home systems. Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2, for example, are IP67-rated and support Matter, Alexa and Google Assistant.
The catch is installation. Most come in fixed lengths and are designed for DIY mounting with clips or adhesive, which can leave cables and gaps visible. Warranty comes from the manufacturer and varies by model.
Dealer-only systems: Trimlight, JellyFish, Gemstone
- Sold and installed only through authorized dealers or franchises
- Lights mounted in the brand's own channel or track
- Long product warranties are common (Trimlight advertises a lifetime product warranty)
- Usually a higher price
- Service and upgrades go through the brand's dealer
Our approach
Retail lights, professional install
We install proven retail brands, including Govee, Eufy and Asahom, the way dealer systems are installed: in a slim, painted track with hidden wiring. You get the clean look for less, with no brand lock-in.
Painted track
Lights sit in a slim track painted to match your trim, so they disappear by day.
Hidden wiring
Cables run neatly to a weatherproof controller, not across your walls.
Set up for you
App, schedules and holiday scenes ready before we leave.
No brand lock-in
Because the lights are retail brands, you can upgrade or replace them later without a dealer.
3-year warranty
On the track and installation, plus the manufacturer's warranty on the lights.
Your lights welcome
Already bought a kit? We can install that too.
Buyer's checklist
What to look for in permanent lights
Waterproof rating
Look for IP67 on the light strings. Florida rain, humidity and sun are hard on cheaper lights.
Real white light
Lights with dedicated white LEDs (often listed as RGBW or RGBCW) give a much nicer everyday warm white than color-only lights.
Smart home
Check for Matter, Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Home support if you want voice control and schedules with your other devices.
Lengths
Most retail lights come in fixed lengths with extensions. Planning the layout avoids gaps or bunched lights at corners.
Track and wiring
A slim, color-matched track hides the lights by day and keeps wiring off your walls.
Local service
Ask who fixes it if a section fails. A local installer is faster than shipping lights back to a manufacturer.

Questions
Permanent light brand questions
Are Govee permanent outdoor lights any good?
For many homes, yes. Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 are IP67-rated and work with Matter, Alexa and Google Assistant. The usual weak spot is a DIY install with visible cables and clips, which a professional install in a painted track solves.
Is Trimlight or JellyFish better than Govee?
They are different kinds of product. Trimlight, JellyFish and Gemstone are dealer-only systems sold and installed through authorized dealers, usually at a higher price, and Trimlight advertises a lifetime product warranty. Retail smart lights like Govee, Eufy and Asahom cost less and, installed in a color-matched track, give a very similar look. The right choice depends on your budget and how long you plan to stay in the home.
Which brand do you recommend?
It depends on your roofline, how much you will use white light versus color, and which smart home system you use. We recommend a specific model at your free estimate.
Can you install lights I already bought?
Yes. If you already own permanent lights or a DIY kit, we can install them in our track and check they are suitable at your visit.
What warranty do I get?
You get our 3-year warranty on the track and installation, plus the manufacturer's warranty on the lights themselves. An optional Lighting Care Plan adds yearly service.
