How the options compare
| Permanent lights | Seasonal install | DIY kit | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up-front cost | Highest, paid once | Lower, but paid every year | Lowest |
| Every year after | Nothing required | Pay again to hang and remove | Your time on a ladder |
| Holidays covered | Every holiday, all year | Usually Christmas only | Depends on the kit |
| Looks by day | Track hidden along the trim | Clips and cords for the season | Often visible strips and cables |
| Florida sun and storms | Built and installed for outdoor use year-round | Up for a few weeks | Varies a lot by brand |
| Fit and finish | Cut and spaced to your roofline | Standard strings | Fixed lengths, often leftover lights |
| Who climbs the ladder | A professional, once | A professional, twice a year | You |
| Warranty | 3-year track plus manufacturer warranty | Varies | Manufacturer only |
Which is right for you
Who each option suits best
Permanent lights
Best if you decorate every year, want color for every holiday, and want a clean look without the yearly ladder work.
Seasonal hang and take-down
Best if you only want lights for Christmas and prefer nothing on the house the rest of the year.
DIY kits
Best if you're comfortable on a ladder, have a simple single-story roofline and want the lowest up-front cost.
Over several years, permanent lights often cost less overall than paying for seasonal installation every November and removal every January, and you get far more use out of them. For real numbers, see our permanent Christmas lights cost guide.

Questions
Common questions
Are permanent Christmas lights worth it in Florida?
For most homeowners who decorate every year, yes. You pay once, skip the yearly ladder work, and use the same lights for every holiday and as everyday warm white lighting.
Can you see permanent lights during the day?
Barely. The lights sit inside a slim track mounted along the fascia, and we can paint the track to match your trim.
Will a DIY kit look the same?
Some kits look good, but most come in fixed lengths with visible cables and adhesive or clips. A professional install is cut and spaced to your roofline, with hidden wiring and a warranty.
Can you install a DIY kit I already bought?
Often, yes. We install customer-supplied lights and will check they're suitable at your visit.
